How does FlixTrain protect their employees?

We advise our employees to follow current recommendations of the authorities. These include adhering to hygiene rules (using proper coughing and sneezing technique, washing hands, maintaining appropriate distance and wearing a mask).

   
How does FlixTrain protect the train personnel?

We are in close contact with our train partners and advise them to follow current recommendations of authorities. These include adhering to hygiene rules (using proper coughing and sneezing technique, washing hands, maintaining appropriate distance and wearing a mask). Furthermore, the train staff is advised to be tested on a regular basis. The tests are being sent by FlixTrain to the train partners. The train partners are responsible to distribute the tests among the staff.

   
Has FlixTrain had any confirmed COVID-19 cases?

If there is a suspicious case in one of our trains, we are in close contact with authorities. Please contact authorities directly if you have any further questions.

Our trains are cleaned and disinfected daily on a regular basis by disinfection specialists. Regarding cleaning of a train where a COVID-19 infected passenger was sitting, we follow the cleaning measures specified by the authorities.

   
What happens to passengers who shared a train with a COVID-19-infected passenger? How does FlixTrain ensure that all passengers are informed?

FlixTrain is monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 with the utmost care and is in close contact with the authorities and our train partners. Relevant customer data is gathered during the booking process and therefore we are able to provide authorities with relevant information.

What happens if I have no mask? Am I still allowed to travel with FlixTrain?

Passengers are obliged to wear a FFP2-mask (a fabric mask or a scarf are NOT sufficient) while boarding and traveling with FlixTrain. Passengers are informed of this when purchasing their ticket, which gives them time to buy/bring a FFP2-mask and be prepared. Passengers without an appropriate mask can´t board the train.

   
Is it enough to cover my face with a scarf or another fabric or do I have to wear a professional mask?

Passengers are obliged to wear a FFP2-mask (a fabric mask or a scarf are NOT sufficient) while boarding and traveling onboard on FlixTrain.

   
Do children have to wear masks covering their face onboard? From which age on do children have to wear a mask on the FlixTrain?

In Germany children from the age of 6 must also wear a FFP2-mask (a fabric mask or a scarf are NOT sufficient) while boarding and traveling on FlixTrain. Parents must bring an appropriate mask for their children.

   
Do passengers have to wear a mask while traveling with FlixTrain?

Yes, passengers are obliged to wear a FFP2-mask (a fabric mask or a scarf are NOT sufficient) while entering and leaving the train as well as during the trip.

   
Does FlixTrain hand out masks when someone doesn’t have them?

Passengers are obliged to wear a FFP2-mask (a fabric mask or a scarf are NOT sufficient) while boarding and traveling with FlixTrain. Passengers are informed of this when purchasing their ticket, which gives them time to buy/bring a FFP2-mask and be prepared. Passengers without an appropriate mask can´t board the train.

   
Will you measure the temperature of passengers before boarding?

No, we will not take the temperature of our passengers. Our safety and hygiene regulations go beyond the minimum legal requirements. Our trains are cleaned and disinfected daily on a regular basis by disinfection specialists. Passengers are obliged to wear a FFP2-mask (a fabric mask or a scarf are NOT sufficient) at all times as well as reduce movement in the train. We urge every passenger to not travel and consult with a doctor if they feel sick.

No, we will not take the temperature of our train personnel. We urge them to not come to work and consult with a doctor if they feel sick. Furthermore, the train staff is advised to be tested on a regular basis. The tests are being sent by FlixTrain to the train partners. The train partners are responsible to distribute the tests among the staff.

   
Is the air on board well circulated?

Yes, all our trains have a fresh air ventilation system that filters and regularly changes the air in the train. Passengers also have the option of opening windows during the journey.

   
How exactly does the ventilation system work?

Fresh air is blown in centrally over the entire length of the passenger compartment through openings in the ceiling. The air is transported to the outside via the boarding areas (at the end/beginning of a wagon) and the exhaust air pipes there.

   
FlixTrain guarantees each passenger a seat? How does it work?

Every passenger is assigned a seat free of charge when booking a ticket. They also have the option to of changing this seat to another of their choice or booking an additional seat via “Seat reservation”.

Have you reduced the number of bookable seats on board?

The safety and well-being of our customers, train partners and employees is our top priority. Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19 we implement new safety guidelines to ensure safe operations and protect our passengers and employees. In a FlixTrain every passenger has guaranteed seat, which means that no passenger has to stand in the aisle and the train cannot be overbooked.

According to the Swedish Public Health Authority, children are exempt from the face mask recommendation.

After the lifting of the restriction regarding seating capacity on long-distance transport, all seats are now bookable on board. Keep in mind that you can book an extra seat next to you should you prefer to travel neighbor-free.
