How do you clean the trains?

Our trains are always cleaned by disinfection specialists during and at the end of each journey.

   
What happens with a train in which a person infected with COVID-19 was sitting?

Our trains are always cleaned by disinfection specialists during the journey and at the end of each journey. Regarding cleaning of a train where a COVID-19 infected passenger was sitting, we follow the cleaning measures specified by the authorities.

   
What happens to passengers who shared a  train with a COVID-19-infected passenger? How does FlixTrain ensure that all passengers are informed?

FlixTrain is monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 with the utmost care and is in close contact with the authorities and our train partners. Relevant customer data is gathered during the booking process and therefore we are able to provide authorities with relevant information.

What happens if I have no mask? Am I still allowed to travel with FlixTrain?

Passengers are obliged to wear a mask (mouth and nose protection) while boarding and traveling via FlixTrain. Passengers are informed of this when purchasing their ticket, which gives them time to buy/bring a face mask (mouth nose protection) and be prepared. Passengers without a mask (mouth nose protection) can´t board the train.

   
Is it enough to cover my face with a scarf or another fabric or do I have to wear a professional mask?

Passengers are obliged to wear a mask covering mouth and nose while boarding and traveling onboard on FlixTrain.

   
Do Children have to wear masks covering their face onboard? From which age on do children have to wear a mask on the FlixTrain?

Children must also wear a mask while boarding and traveling on FlixTrain. Parents must bring masks for their children (Iin Germany, the guideline from the authorities is for children 6 years and older).

   
Do passengers have to wear a mask while travelling with FlixTrain?

Yes, passengers are obliged to wear a mask while entering and leaving the train as well as during the trip.

   
Does FlixTrain hand out masks when someone doesn’t have them? For free or for what price?

Passengers will be informed about wearing a mask (mouth nose protection) when purchasing their ticket, which gives them time to buy/bring a face mask (mouth nose protection) and be prepared. It is not possible to buy a mask on site. Passengers without masks are not entitled to a ride and their ticket expires.

   
Will you measure the temperature of passengers before boarding?

No, we will not take the temperature of our passengers. Our safety and hygiene regulations go beyond the minimum legal requirements. Our trains are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after each journey. Passengers are obliged to wear masks at all times as well as reduce movement in the train. We urge every passenger to not travel and consult with a doctor if they feel sick.

   
Will you measure the temperature of train personnel before starting their shift?

No, we will not take the temperature of our train personnel. We urge them to not come to work and consult with a doctor if they feel sick.

   
Is the air on board well circulated?

Yes, all our trains have a fresh air ventilation system that filters and regularly changes the air in the train. Passengers also have the option of opening windows during the journey.

   
How exactly does the ventilation system work?

Fresh air is blown in centrally over the entire length of the passenger compartment through openings in the ceiling. The air is transported to the outside via the boarding areas (at the end/beginning of a wagon) and the exhaust air pipes there.

   
FlixTrain guarantees each passenger a seat? How does it work?

Every passenger is assigned a seat free of charge when booking a ticket. They also have the option to of changing this seat to another of their choice or booking an additional seat via “Seat reservation”.

For how long will these measures stay in place?

FlixMobility is monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 with the utmost care and is in close contact with the authorities. The safety of our customers and staff is of utmost priority to us. Presently, we cannot make any concrete statement about duration of these necessary measures.

   
Have you reduced the number of bookable seats on board?

The safety and well-being of our customers, train partners and employees is our top priority. Due to the current situation regarding COVID-19 we implement new safety guidelines to ensure safe operations and protect our passengers and employees. In a FlixTrain every passenger has guaranteed seat, which means that no passenger has to stand in the aisle and the train cannot be overbooked.
